Once the portfolio is created, each new investment should evaluate how the inclusion of the investment changes the profile of the overall portfolio. Funds management also involves an understanding of all the various investment options that are available for investing. These typically include securities like bonds and shares, assets like real estate and antiques and various other investment options like term deposits, pension funds and insurances. Another aspect that expert funds management requires is a balance between the long term and short term investments. An assessment needs to be made for funds management with regards to the amount of money that may be required in the short term and the amount that can be put aside for the future. Therefore liquidity is an aspect that good funds management should take into consideration before the funds are allocated and invested. Expert funds management also includes financial analysis of the manner in which various funds have been performing the past few months and therefore extrapolating the trend to assess the gains that are possible. This is a higher level of funds management and may require the use of various financial metrics for evaluation.
