Extended Systems Releases Advantage Database Server 7.1
Extended Systems Releases Advantage Database Server 7.1
Performance, Development, Maintenance and Usability Features Optimized
BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2004--Building upon its powerful client/server database management system, Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND) announced today that it has released Advantage Database Server version 7.1. Advantage Database Server 7.1 is a robust, enterprise-class database management system that can be easily deployed in diverse environments with zero to low administration costs. New functionality incorporated into version 7.1 will enable line of business application developers to increase efficiency and decrease time-to-market, while reducing total cost of ownership and maintenance requirements.
"We are excited about Advantage 7.1," said Jeff Crandall, director of product development, Inborne Technology Corporation. "Advantage is the perfect fit for our needs and the development, usability and performance enhancements in this release reinforce our decision to choose Advantage Database over other database solutions."
New, integrated enhancements in version 7.1 include:
-- Updateable Data Dictionary Links - enables developers to include updates to multiple data directories in the context of a single transaction. Changes can be made to multiple data dictionaries via the same database connection, and the changes can be rolled back or committed as a single transaction.
-- SQL Execution Plan - contains detailed information on how a query or a set of queries will be executed by the Advantage Database Server. By reviewing the SQL execution plan in advance, the query author may be able to improve performance by modifying the SQL statement, creating indexes, or modifying the database design.
-- SQL Statement Monitoring - the Remote Management Utility in Advantage Data Architect now returns information on all queries running on the specified server. This functionality can play a vital role in determining if a "rogue" query is hogging CPU time.
-- Enhanced User Permissions - all users may now be granted permission to create, modify and drop objects in the data dictionary.
Advantage 7.1 Pricing and Availability
Advantage Database Server 7.1 is available now. Prices range from $645 for a 5-user license to $7870 for an unlimited user license.
