Upcoming technology conferences look at government tech and RFID issues

Bank Of America Investment By WTN News • 06/09/04 Keeping up with todays dynamic technology space is a challenge for any organization, and two upcoming conferences are designed to help Wisconsins businesses and government bound over those hurdles. Specifically, the conferences will explore government technology and RFID implementation.

The Government Technology Conference, being held Friday, June 11 in Madison is examining the aspects of effectively running government enterprise while considering budgets and political cycles. Specifically, speakers and panelists will focus on leadership and change, return on investment and best practices.

Speakers include Gov. Jim Doyle; Matt Miszewski, chief information office for the state of Wisconsin and the publisher of Government Technology magazine, Don Pearson.

Individuals interested in fiscal management, program development, human resources, strategic planning and business decision-making are invited to attend.

The Wisconsin RFID Conference, sponsored by the UW E-Business Institute, will be held Thursday, June 17 in Waukesha and will explore the industry move toward this new bar-coding technology. Advice on how to implement RFID strategies, challenges resulting from RFID execution and discussion on ongoing pilot projects are included in the conferences agenda.

Featured speakers include Raj Veeramani, UW-E Business director and Javed Sikander, Microsofts RFID program manager. Audience members are expected to be those interested in RFID program development and implementation.

"We will deliver this message at the upcoming vice ministerial level talks, " Hosoda, the top government spokesman, told a news conference. But he stopped short of saying whether Japan would support sending the nuclear row to the UN Security Council for potential sanctions. Asked about bringing the issue to the Security Council, of which Japan is a member, "The issue will be handled depending upon the response from Iran and discussions of each nation. So it is difficult for us to say at this stage."
