BxVideo designs Web hosting service for Sonic Foundry media presentations

Bank Of America Investment By WTN News • 05/31/04 MADISON Rich media presentations created with Sonic Foundrys Mediasite have a home on BxVideos new suite of hosted services, which help organizations capture presentations digitally and publish them on the Web. This is the first hosted service platform created exclusively for Mediasite, the companies announced in statements released in tandem Friday.

Now customers of any size and type can leverage the power of rich media communications without the up-front expense and technical expertise commonly associated with streaming video applications, said Darrin Coulson, president of BxVideo. Mediasite records the presentation in a snap and RMXPRES takes care of all back-end hosting requirements. RMXPRES removes the up-front capital strains as well as IT resource or network security issues that previously have hamstrung creators of rich-media content.

The offering is geared toward companies who want to record events and place them immediately on the Web or CDs without the hassle of setting up equipment themselves. BxVideo is offering a full-service approach from recording to publishing.

Madison-based Sonic Foundry has made significant inroads into rich media presentation, managing webcasts for organizations such as Wispolitics and Accelerate Madison. Its new relationship with BxVideo, a rich-media services provider in the Pittsburgh, Pa., metro area, may expand its reach.

"For our annual World Congress, BxVideo partnered with our primary A/V contractor and recorded 32 sessions complete with full audio/video and graphic content -- at a fraction of the cost of typical production-based services, said Steve Yaeger, a spokesperson for the Society of Automotive Engineers International. Not only that, but the presentations were available to our attendees on CD and via the Web within hours. This is an impressive and cost-effective offering for any organization that wants to record and distribute presentations via the Web or on CDs."

BxVideo discovered Mediasite while working with Carnegie Mellon University, then cooperated with Sonic Foundry to develop its Web-based programs, which it will display at the InfoComm 2004 trade show June 9-11 in Atlanta. It hopes to expand its capabilities by building on Mediasite, which can combine video, audio, slide shows and other forms of media from various devices to create a rich presentation.
