Investment Opportunity September 25, 2003 (Axcess News) Washington DC - A federal advisory panel this week discussed the status of health organizations and their efforts to prepare for a biological terrorist attack or disease outbreak.The panel, formed in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks meets periodically to consider the implications of anthrax scares, SARS, smallpox and other possible bioterrorism and public health emergencies.The Council on Public Health Preparedness, made up of experts from the medical community and various universities and public health services, met near Washington Monday and Tuesday. But a panel of agency representatives, including Engstrom, maintained that the first step should be the ability to handle a major event and not compromise the care given to other patients.
