New Jersey Grassland Habitat Symposium To Be Held On April 14

Bank Of America Investment A Grassland Habitat Symposium will be held on April 14, 2004 at the Franklin Township Municipal Building, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ. The New Jersey Audubon Society, Franklin Township, Somerset County, and New Jerseys Endangered and Nongame Species Program will host the event which is sponsored by the Mushett Family Foundation of Far Hills, NJ.

In New Jersey, property taxes raise about $14 billion each year, with half earmarked for schools and half for county and municipal government. New Jersey property taxes are among the highest in the nation, and the system has been criticized as unfair to the elderly and people on fixed incomes. Under New Jersey law, Adler's bill would have to be approved by the Senate and Assembly and signed by the governor by Aug. 27 for there to be a referendum on the November ballot asking if there should be a constitutional convention in April 2003.

Investment Opportunity Grassland habitats are clearly one of the most threatened habitats in New Jersey. Grassland and other early successional habitat species clearly dominate the states Threatened and Endangered species lists of birds, representing 41% of all endangered birds and 29% of all threatened birds on the lists. Remaining grassland habitats in New Jersey are typically found in agricultural landscapes, and are directly under siege from developers who find the hayfields, pastures, along with agricultural fields, particularly attractive for development. Flat and free of trees or other vegetation that would need to be cleared before development, statewide agricultural landscapes are prime targets.

The New Jersey Audubon Society is involved in a project to monitor nocturnal songbird migration and identify key stopover sites in New Jersey. Migrating songbirds use these sites as they travel between their winter homes and their breeding grounds, gaining rest and nourishment from the natural habitats all around us. Come and learn about the amazing world of migration, as well as the stopover sites in new Jersey that sustain the annual trek.

Banc Of America Investment The symposium will focus on an examination of the characteristics of grasslands, including the identification of critical or focal areas, restoration techniques for grasslands, and establishing grassland habitat in a working agricultural context. Interactive afternoon workshops will be held focusing on funding opportunities for grassland restoration, developing a management plan for a grassland restoration, and also a field trip to a restoration site.

The Sierra Club, and the state Department of Environment Protection have already said, though, that the pinelands would be a suitable natural habitat for the bears. The resolution was placed on the agenda for the freeholders' meeting next week. The issue of relocating black bears to southern New Jersey is not new, having actually been included by the state in its list of options for bear control in 1997. It has risen to the fore, however, related incidents in northern New Jersey.

Banking Investment The symposium is free and open to conservation professionals, the farming community, and the general public. We are requesting a donation of $10.00 per person to cover lunch, which will be provided. To register, please visit http://www.njaudubon.org/Conservation/GrasslandSym.html for the registration form, directions to the site, and an agenda for the meeting.

The Broker Confirmation Letter serves several purposes. It allows the personal representative to verify the existence of investment accounts held by an investment firm. It also helps determine the exact ownership of the investments. If the investments are held jointly with another individual, or if the investments are held by a trust, the investments may or may not be subject to probate. Therefore, it is important for the personal representative to be able to identify the types of investments owned by the decedent and in whose name the investments are held.
