California Department of Corporations Issues Statement in Response to Google's Disclosure to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 2004--The California Department of Corporations issued the following statement today in response to Google, Inc.'s recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that indicates the company may have violated both federal and state securities laws between September 2001 and June 2004.
The Department of Corporations is aware of the issue surrounding Google, Inc. As the securities regulator in California, the Department will exercise its complete authority in this matter to ensure full compliance with California's securities laws. The Department is investigating this matter and will continue until satisfactorily concluded.
The Department of Corporations is California's Investment and Financing Authority. The Department is responsible for the regulation, enforcement and licensing of securities, franchises, off-exchange commodities, investment and financial services, independent escrows, consumer and commercial finance lending and residential mortgage lending.
