Tournament Q&A

Q How many people compete in bass tournaments?
Bank Of America Investment AA lot. Seriously, the average BASS Master tournament field consists of approximately 300 competitors. There are 15 events on the BASS Master Tournament Trail leading up to the BASS Masters Classic, the Super Bowl of bass fishing. Add to that the Red Man Tour - the competing professional circuit - and untold hundreds of local competitions, and the number of people climbs into the thousands.
table tournament in the tournament lobby or, for some tournaments, in the weekly calendar. Tournaments start at a scheduled time, for example 3 pm ET. All tournament players must be logged into the tournament game before the tournament starts to keep their place in the starting line. Ensure that you are on the tournament page at least 2 minutes before the start. When the tournament starts you are automatically seated at a table.
Investment Opportunity Q How much money can a top pro earn?
Some Sit and go tournaments are indeed the beginning of a larger satellite tournament. A satellite tournament is the means by which a player can play in a small tournament and win tickets for entrance to a larger tournament. This process is continued for 3 or 4 tournaments until the winner of the final tournament wins a ticket and package to one of the major land based tournaments, such as the World Series of Poker. The World Series of Poker is where the best players in the world battle it out for an estimated $20, 000, 000 total prize sum.
Banc Of America Investment A A lot. The best of the best, the guys who've won a BASS Masters Classic, have sponsorship deals that include everything from boats to television shows, and can have annual incomes that rival professional golfers'. The grandest of prizes is the BASS Masters Classic, where the winner receives a check for a cool $100,000. Banking Investment Q How do you turn pro?
in tournament and win tickets for entry to a larger tournament. in tournaments with a small initial outlay. A Sit and Go tournament is a tournament that starts as soon as all the available places are full. Some Sit and Go tournaments are in fact satellites.
Investment Solution Strategic A It's not that complicated. To compete in BASS Master events, you must join the Association of BASS Professionals (a $100 fee). That makes you eligible to pay the $600/event entry fee and compete in the BASS Master Invitational events. Finish in the top 25 of the Invitational standings (in either the Central or Eastern standings) and you qualify for the BASS Master Top 100. Finish in the top five of the Central or Eastern Invitational standings, or in the top 25 of the Top 100, and you qualify for the BASS Masters Classic. So there's really nothing to it, as long as you don't consider the fact you also have to pay for all your own equipment and travel until you start winning a lot.

Investment Banking Services Q How many hours a week do the pros fish?
Bank Investment A On average, between 35 and 60 hours a week, year-round, for a top-level professional. More if you're trying to work your way up. That may sound like fun, but if you do anything for 50 hours a week, every week, it's hard work. And it doesn't include time spent working on equipment, traveling to events and trying to maintain some sort of exercise program.
Alternative Investment Q What's so hard about catching fish?
Online Investment Services A Not going stark-raving mad when you're not catching fish. Fishing is a learned skill, but it's also a numbers game - the more times you cast, the more likely you are to catch a fish - with the odds slanted horribly against you, so you have to have an almost inhuman ability to tolerate failure. Figuring conservatively, a pro will cast 60 times per hour, for eight hours a day - make that 500 casts; the goal, to catch five fish. Catching a fish takes about two minutes. So if you catch five fish each day, you'll have spent seven hours and 50 minutes making about 475 useless casts. And you still have to remain focused the entire time. To get a feel for what that's like, try this: Set a baseball cap upside on the floor about 10 feet from your couch, get a couple of decks of playing cards, sit on the couch and try to toss the cards into the cap. Do this for eight hours, with no distractions, no TV or radio, no going to the kitchen for a beer - nothing but card tossing. Don't call us when you snap. - D.K.
