AGENCY.COM Acquires Exile on Seventh
Expansion of San Francisco Office Driven by Record Growth of Online Advertising
New York June 29, 2004 AGENCY.COM Ltd., a leading interactive marketing and technology agency, announced today that it has acquired certain assets of the San Francisco-based online advertising agency Exile on Seventh LLC. The acquisition builds upon the long-standing success of itraffic, the companys online advertising division, and bolsters AGENCY.COMs leadership position in the interactive marketing space. Exile on Sevenths world-class clients include eBay, 21st Century Insurance and Wells Fargo.Exile on Seventh will be integrated into AGENCY.COMs San Francisco office and will assume the AGENCY.COM brand. itraffics New York, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco offices will transition to the AGENCY.COM brand by the end of 2004, forming a specialized practice within AGENCY.COM dedicated to online marketing called the Advertising Group, which will include Exile on Seventh. The itraffic brand will be retained in London.
Alan Burgis, president of Exile on Seventh, will take on the role of Senior Vice President and report directly to Don Scales, president and COO of AGENCY.COM. Burgis, a native of Australia, has over 25 years of agency and client-side marketing experience on both sides of the Pacific. Previously, he was managing director of McCann-Ericksons San Francisco office, chairman of FCB in Sydney, Australia, and CEO of Euro RSCG, Sydney, Australia. He also spent four years at McCann-Erickson in Los Angeles as both worldwide account director and director of account management, and was EVP and director of account management at GMO in San Francisco. On the client side, Burgis was marketing director of Frito-Lay and Bristol-Myers in Australia.
Todays news follows the Interactive Advertising Bureaus recent report that Internet advertising revenue reached a record $2.3 billion in the first quarter of this year, up 38.9% over the first quarter of 2003 (Internet Ad Revenue Report, May 24, 2004).
