Bank Of America Investment TEL AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2004-- RAD Data Communications, an industry-leading manufacturer of unique carrier-class access solutions, and CableMatrix, primary vendor of a PacketCable(TM) Multimedia (PCMM)-based platform for the delivery of enhanced Quality of Service (QoS) applications, announced today a joint product solution to enable cable broadband operators to offer competitively priced T1 services with high quality voice to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The products will be showcased at the CableLabs Summer Conference 2004, to be held August 9-11 in Denver, Colorado, as part of a live demonstration of TDM over DOCSIS with QoS assurance.

A T1 line actually consists of 24 individual channels, each supporting 64 Kbps. Each channel can be configured to carry voice or data traffic. Most telephone companies allow the customers to buy just a few of these individual channels, a package known as fractional T1 access (see Fractional T1). Typically, fractional T1 lines are sold in increments of 56 Kbps (the extra 8 Kbps per channel is used for data management), plus users and a variety of network services.
